Strong performances by Vincent and Adebayo inspire Miami Heat to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Miami Heat recorded a 100-97 victory away against the Cleveland Cavaliers in an NBA fixture played in the early hours of Wednesday, February 1, 2023.

After a disappointing loss to the Charlotte Hornets, the Heat set the tone with better defense against the Cavaliers.

In a low-scoring affair, the Cavaliers recorded a two-point lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Heat were able to produce sets of runs in the second quarter to overturn the lead by five points going to the halftime break with a three-point lead.

The Cavaliers came back from the break with intensity in the third quarter to level the game.

The final quarter provided elite defense from both sides, as the Heat were able to outscore the Cavaliers at a three-point victory.

Speaking after the game, KJimmy Butler who led the team in scoring with 23 points said, "I think whenever we're guarding at a high level, we're really good. 

"We still have lapses, but I'm glad those lapses did not cost us the game tonight." 

Tyler Herro added, "No we don't feel pressure... At the end of the day, you want a competitive game against competitive players, and we got that tonight."

Adebayo and Vincent spark Heat against the Cavaliers

Adebayo called out his teammates after the loss to the Hornets and in the game against the Cavaliers set the defensive tempo for the Heat.

In an impressive outing, Adebayo featured for 38 minutes and recorded a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds.

The All-Star also chipped in one assist making seven of his 13 shots and four of six from the free throw line.

Gabriel Nnamdi Vincent came off the bench to play 21 minutes and spark the Heat to victory.

He contributed nine points, two rebounds, and one assist making three of six shots from three-point range.
