Another meet, another victory and world lead for Botswana's Letsile Tebogo, becoming the fastest man in 2024.

Double-world sprint medallist Letsile Tebogo is now the fastest man in three different events this year after his effortless 200m victory at the ASA Grand Prix III in South Africa.

Tebogo, now fondly called Usain Bolt's 'chosen successor' powered to a blistering 19.94s for the convincing victory - his fastest season opener in the event, thus becoming the first man under the 20 seconds mark and is the world lead this year.

South Africa's Akani Simbine finished second in 20.32s, and his compatriot Eckhart Potgieter settled for third with 20.61s.

Tebogo has been in outstanding form this season and has clocked super-fast times, with even a world record. His recent performance sees him now have three world leads in three different events - 400m (44.29s) and 300m (30.69s, a world record).

The Botswanan youngster's jaw-dropping early season performances now tips him as one of the top favourites for the Olympic sprint titles, rivaling the world's fastest man Noah Lyles, as the one to stop the American's quadruple dreams in Paris.

Fans have also highly rated him as the 'chosen successor' not Lyles to Bolt's throne and to break the Jamaican track legend's 200m world record of 19.19s.

Tebogo is now considered to have the talent to break the 43-seconds mark in the 400m - a feat that will make him the first man in history to run sub-10s, sub-20s, and sub-43s.

With his successful early 2024 form, despite still yet to make his 100m season's debut, it's expected that the 20-year-old will only get faster and his rivalry with Lyles will top charts this year ahead and at the Paris Olympic Games.
