Favour Ofili shatters women's 150m World Record, joins Tobi Amusan in elite league of history makers on athletics all-time list
Favour Ofili is the new World Record holder in the women's 100m event.
In the final, Nathaniel proved his semifinal mark was no fluke, lowering the record again to a brilliant 47.89s for a convenient win over Texas Tech's Oskar Edlund in 49.00s, while TCU's Jayden Douglas was third in 49.87s.
Nathaniel's jaw-dropping performance remains the only NCAA athlete to run under 48 seconds, and his time is the third-fastest in the world this year.
The 21-year-old now stands as a potential medallist in Tokyo, and if he continues to improve at this rate, he has a good chance of breaking Samuel Matete's long-standing African Record of 47.10s set in 1991.
