'My heart is in pieces' - Hulk Hogan's wife mourns WWE legend and painfully reveals cause of death
Sky Daily, the wife of wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, has paid an emotional tribute to the passing of her husband, revealing that although Hogan had been “dealing with some health issues” recently, she had believed they would overcome them.
“I wasn’t ready for this…and my heart is in pieces,” she wrote in an emotional tribute on Friday, 25 July, hours after Hogan died at his Clearwater, Florida home.
“He had been dealing with some health issues, but I truly believed we would overcome them. I had so much faith in his strength. I thought we still had more time.
“This loss is sudden and impossible to process. To the world, he was a legend… but to me, he was my Terry. The man I loved. My partner. My heart.
“Hulk loved his fans so much and despite his growing physical discomfort, he did everything he could to show up, sign autographs, take photos, and connect with the people who supported him through it all. You meant everything to him.
“He was a believer in Christ, and I take comfort knowing his soul is at peace and he’s been welcomed home.
“Please keep his family and all of us who loved him in your prayers as we try to navigate this new reality.
Hogan, whose real name was Terry Bollea, was 71.
According to Clearwater authorities, emergency responders arrived at his residence on 24 July following a 911 call regarding cardiac arrest.
Despite CPR efforts and rapid transport to Morton Plant Hospital, Hogan was pronounced dead at approximately 11:17 a.m. ET.
Health warnings overlooked amid rumours
In the weeks leading up to his death, speculation swirled over Hogan’s condition.
At least one media personality claimed he was on life support and possibly suffering brain damage.
Sky Daily swiftly quashed the rumours in mid‑July, stating clearly that Hogan was not in a coma, had a strong heart, and had never suffered oxygen deprivation or neurological damage.
She disclosed that he had undergone a complex four-level Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF), which significantly impacted his spine, vocal cords, and breathing, requiring intermittent hospital stays to support his recovery.
Despite these assurances, Hogan’s longtime manager Jimmy Hart had just two days before described his health as “phenomenal,” downplaying public concern.
Hogan’s legacy beyond the ring
Best known for headlining WrestleMania events in the 1980s and helping escalate WWE into a global phenomenon, Hogan was a larger-than-life figure.
He was immortalised by iconic moments like his 1984 victory over The Iron Sheik and body-slamming André the Giant at WrestleMania III.
Beyond wrestling, Hogan appeared in movies such as Rocky III, starred in Hogan Knows Best, and remained a prominent pop culture fixture.
Though his legacy was tarnished by controversies — including a leaked sex tape lawsuit and a racist rant that led to his temporary removal from WWE, his influence endured.
Hogan was inducted twice into the WWE Hall of Fame and remained one of the most recognisable figures in sports entertainment until his passing.
