The Spaniard is currently second in the rankings, 3,430 points behind leader Jannik Sinner. However, he won't be defending many points in the coming months.
"My goal for the rest of the season is to get back to number one," Carlos stated clearly in Cincinnati.

"I'm happy with how I've done things so far, and I want to continue that way. There are certain things I want to improve, but the main thing now is to enjoy myself on the court."
Alcaraz and Sinner have had some great battles this season, so they are understandably attracting the most attention.

"We have a great rivalry, and I'm very happy with how it's developing. We've achieved a lot in a very short time. We have many years of competition ahead of us; we'll see where it takes us. People can discuss it; I don't think about it too much," Carlos said.
The Spaniard won the French Open final after saving match points, but the Italian got his revenge at Wimbledon.
"It was a completely new situation for me. I'd never lost a Grand Slam final before, but you have to be prepared for something like that. Of course, I didn't want it to ever happen, but I left the court with my head held high. It's happened to all the greatest tennis players in history. It took me a few hours to recover from the defeat, and now I know what I need to improve," Alcaraz concluded.
