Fatimo Bello and Esther Oribamise's journey at the Africa Cup suffered a blow in the Quarterfinal

West Africa champions Fatimo Bello and Esther Oribamise have been knocked out of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Africa Cup in Kenya.

Pulse Sports reports that the ITTF Africa Cup started on Thursday, May 4, at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, Nairobi Kenya.

Bello and Oribamise are Nigeria's representative women's events in Kenya.

The Quarter final clash is a repeat of last year's final in Lagos where the Egyptian defeated Bello again.

The 15-year-old thrashed current West Africa 4-0, while Dina Meshref defeated Oribamise 4-1 to set a semi-final date with fellow Egyptian, Marwa Alhodaby.

In the Men's singles semi-final fixtures, Quadri Aruna will battle Mohamed El-Beiali, and the second semi-final will see Omar Assar and Antoine Razafinarivo.

The most decorated ping pong championship in Africa will witness the participating countries present two players each in men's and women's events, while Egypt, as the defending champions in men's and women's events, will nominate two players alongside the two champions.

The host country, Kenya, will present four players each in the men's and women's events, while Brian Mutua will lead the East African team against the visitors.

Omar Assar and Hana Goda are the defending Champions in the men's and women's singles.

Meanwhile, this year’s Africa Cup serves as a dress rehearsal for the first World Championships taking place in Africa in 84 years, which is due to take place in Durban, South Africa from May 20 to 28.
