Wolves vs Arsenal: Gunners bottle two-goal lead against Arokodare and Co. in huge title race stumble

Arsenal have seen their title hopes suffer a huge blow to their title challenge after dropping points against bottom-side Wolves

Despite Bukayo Saka celebrating his new five-year contract with a goal, Arsenal still stumbled in their quest for a first Premier League title since 2004 after their 2-2 draw against Wolves.

The Gunners saw a two-goal lead evaporate late in the game thanks to strikes from Hugo Bueno and Nigerian-born star Tom Edozie.

Wolves vs Arsenal: How it happened

On paper, the Gunners were overwhelming favourites and they showed their superiority early on when Declan Rice found Bukayo Saka, who ghosted in centrally to head home the opener.

Wolves struggled to get out of their own half, with José Sá producing a superb double save to deny Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli as Arsenal pushed for a second. The hosts failed to register a meaningful first-half effort, managing only a tame long-range attempt before the break.

After half-time, Wolves briefly improved, with Adam Armstrong firing narrowly over. However, Arsenal appeared to seal the contest when Gabriel’s incisive pass released Piero Hincapié, who finished confidently for his first goal for the club.

Just as the game seemed done, Hugo Bueno curled a stunning strike into the top corner to spark hope.

Late drama followed when a mix-up between David Raya and Gabriel allowed Edozie’s deflected effort to creep in, rescuing a point for Wolves.

For Arsenal, it was a damaging setback in the title race, while Wolves claimed a rare bright moment in an otherwise bleak season.
