West Brom vs Coventry: Onyeka wins MOTM to strenghten Frank Lampard side's league lead

Frank Onyeka starred in midfield and was named Man of the Match for a dominant all-round performance as Coventry City strengthened their position at the top of the Championship with a commanding 2–0 win away at West Bromwich Albion. 

Onyeka had a dominant performance in midfield, propelling his side to victory. According to Sofascore, Onyeka completed 73% of the 44 passes he attempted, contributed defensively with eight ball recoveries, and won eight of 12 duels.

Onyeka has had a brilliant start to life at Coventry; he had a brilliant debut against Middlesbrough, which earned him plaudits from head coach Frank Lampard. The performance against West Brom was even more dominant, earning him the MOTM Award for his troubles.

Coventry struck early, taking the lead in the 5th minute when Ephron Mason-Clark latched onto a long ball over the top after Frank Onyeka won possession in midfield, chesting it down and lobbing the West Brom goalkeeper to make it 1–0.

The visitors continued to control territory and tempo as the game developed, with Onyeka’s influence in central areas allowing Coventry to dictate play and build forward momentum. 

In the 32nd minute, Jack Rudoni doubled the lead with a powerful left-footed strike from outside the box, making it 2–0 and giving Coventry a strong advantage heading into the break. 

West Brom struggled to carve out meaningful chances, with only one shot on target across the 90 minutes, as Coventry stifled their attacking play to clinch their second consecutive victory after failing to win in the three matches before Onyeka joined.
