Transfer news: Club Brugge reject late offer for Super Eagles star Onyedika
This is not the first time a Bundesliga club have shown interest in the 24-year-old. Last summer, Eintracht Frankfurt also made a strong push to sign Onyedika, who was a standout performer for Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Onyedika joined Club Brugge in 2022 from Danish club FC Midtjylland and has since become a vital component of their midfield.
He has made 168 appearances for the club across all competitions, contributing eight goals and five assists.
Club Brugge reject Onyedika’s bid
According to transfer specialist Sacha Tavolieri, Wolfsburg submitted a final bid valued at nearly €20 million, including performance-related bonuses.
However, following internal discussions on Sunday, Club Brugge decided to turn down the proposal.
The decision means the highly-rated midfielder will remain a key part of the Belgian side's squad for the rest of the current season.
All parties have reportedly agreed to revisit a potential transfer in the summer, allowing for a move to be arranged under more favorable conditions.
By rejecting Wolfsburg's advance, Club Brugge has prioritized stability for their ongoing domestic and European campaigns, retaining an influential player for the crucial second half of the season.
With the winter transfer window now closed, Onyedika will focus on his duties at Club Brugge. Transfer talks are expected to resume in the summer, when a move that satisfies both the player's ambitions and the club's valuation can be properly structured.
