This is not the first time Onyedika has attracted interest from Germany and other clubs across Europe.

Last summer, the midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Eintracht Frankfurt. Now, Wolfsburg has emerged as a serious contender for his signature.

Premier League side Aston Villa had also shown interest in the midfielder during the Africa Cup of Nations, but that attention appears to have subsided.

According to Sky Sport Germany, discussions between Wolfsburg and the Belgian club are actively underway, although a final agreement has not yet been reached.

The German side's sporting director, Pirmin Schwegler, is said to be personally involved in the negotiations.

The 24-year-old, who has less than eighteen months remaining on his current contract, is valued at just over €20 million.

Onyedika joined Club Brugge in 2022 from Danish club FC Midtjylland. Since then, the former FC Ebedei youth player has made 167 appearances for the Belgian side, contributing eight goals and five assists.

He recently showcased his talent at the Africa Cup of Nations, delivering a standout performance in a group stage match against Uganda.

Onyedika scored his first two international goals in that game, earning him the Man of the Match award.
