Tella baby shines as Leverkusen dismantle Bayern Munich to extend unbeaten run
Nigerian winger Nathan Tella was one of the standout players as Bayer Leverkusen stunned Bayern Munich 3-0 on Saturday to extend their unbeaten run to 31 matches.
Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that Tella was involved in another goal as Leverkusen brushed Bayern aside to extend their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to five points.
Tella shines for Leverkusen
The 24-year-old terrorised the Bayern defence all evening, creating two chances, making one key pass and providing the assist for Alejandro Grimaldo’s goal that made it 2-0 to the hosts in the second half.
The Nigerian winger showed brilliant vision and technique to play a perfectly weighted through ball for the left-wingback to slot home and cap a superb Leverkusen move.
It was a pass Bayern defender Dayot Upamecano would not want to see again as Tella carved open the league leaders with ease.
The former Southampton man could have found the net himself as he had two efforts on goal during an industrious performance before he was substituted for Jeremie Frimpong, who wrapped things up with the third goal, in the 65th minute.
He finished with a 77% pass completion rate and created one big chance in a performance worthy of a man-of-the-match nomination.
His contribution against Bayern means the winger has now scored or assisted four goals in his last five appearances for high-flying Leverkusen.

What the result means
A wonderful day for Xabi Alonso and his Leverkusen side, thanks to goals from Josip Stanisic, Grimaldo and Frimpong.
The result means Leverkusen become the latest invincibles in Germany and are now five points clear of Bayern points at the top of the Bundesliga.
But it was Tella who stole the show and manager Xabi Alonso was full of praise for the Nigerian flyer.
"Nathan is getting better every game," Alonso said. "His talent creates problems for any defence and he is so important to how we play."
Tella will be hoping to take his Leverkusen form into Nigeria's friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador this month.
