The AFCON 2025 bronze medallist is attracting attention across Africa following his impressive international displays.

Simba SC open talks amid goalkeeping crisis

Simba SC have officially opened discussions with the representatives of Stanley Nwabali as they explore options to strengthen their goalkeeping department.

The 29-year-old currently plays for South African Betway Premiership side Chippa United and is entering the final six months of his contract, a situation that makes him eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with interested clubs.

Sources indicate that Simba are actively engaging Nwabali’s camp, with the aim of securing a move either during the ongoing transfer window or on a free transfer at the end of the season.

However, no agreement has been reached so far, and Foot Africa reports that Simba are yet to submit a formal bid to Chippa United, who are understood to be open to offers.

The urgency behind Simba’s interest stems from an injury crisis, with goalkeeper Moussa Camara sidelined by a knee injury. Although the club has moved to sign Mahamadou Tanja Kassila from AS FAN in Niger, plans to deregister Camara have caused tension, pushing Simba to consider longer-term solutions.

The goalkeeper kept four clean sheets in seven matches, earning widespread praise for his composure, shot-stopping, and leadership at the back.

Unsurprisingly, Simba are not alone in the race. Nwabali has previously been linked with Morocco’s Raja Club Athletic, Kaizer Chiefs, Saudi side Al-Ettifaq, and English Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers.

With his contract winding down and interest mounting, the Super Eagles shot-stopper is unlikely to be short of options as the transfer window progresses.
