The team led by coach and technical staff arrived in Kigali for their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Amavubi of Rwanda.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated the Cheetahs of Benin Republic 3-0 to start their AFCON 2025 qualifiers.

Two goals from Ademola Lookman and one from Victor Osimhen sealed the victory at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

Eguavoen stepped in to take charge of the team following the failure of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to seal the deal for Bruno Labbadia.

Speaking at the press conference for the game, Eguavoen stated that his Super Eagles will not look down on Rwanda.

He said, "We have quality players who can play in different styles of football, different formation, different system.

"So what about formation or system? Rwanda comes with of tomorrow. We have the personnel to deal with it.

"Our country full of, of expectations. It doesn't matter who we play, they expect us to win.

"We play people with respect, but we'll get results.

"They respect us, we do respect them also, we play people who lose the utmost respect.

"You don't look down on people these days because football has, has really improved.

"So when you, when you joke with it, you can get shocked, but we'll be on our feet.

"Remember any country that is playing against Nigeria, they always try to do what raise their game. So we'll have to be ready as well."

Nigeria have two wins, the other three are draws while Rwanda are still searching for their first victory.

The game between Rwanda and Nigeria will take place on Tuesday, September 10th, 2024 at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali with kick off set for at 2.00 PM.
