Super Eagles goalkeeper Nwabali threatens to beat up social media influencer
Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali had threatened to beat up social media influencer Mr Adams Kehinde “Lege Miami”, who made careless statements about his late father following Nigeria's defeat to DR Congo.
What happened
Nigeria’s World Cup qualification dreams came to an end on Sunday night, following a loss on penalties to the Leopards. In the aftermath, Nigerians took to social media with pitchforks, birthing many expletive-laden post-match reactions.
One such profane commentary came from Lege Miami, who insulted many of the Super Eagles players, including Nwabali. He went a step further with the Chippa United goalkeeper, referencing a viral clip from the 2023 AFCON in which fans swarmed Nwabali’s father's compound to celebrate his son's heroics.
Lege said the shot-stopper's performances in recent matches were also warranting a mob gathering, but instead of plaudits, he intimated that Nwabali's father should be beaten.
What Nwabali said
Seemingly unbeknownst to Mr Kehinde, Nwabali's father had died in November last year, two months before his mother died as well. Nwabali took to social media to put out a stern warning, even threatening violence against the Lege Miami.
“Legermiamii, remove my late dad's name from your mouth if you're doing your content,” Nwabali shared on his story. If you don't respect people's dad, you should learn to respect the dead.
“I'm not your regular type of footballer. I go beat you mercilessly. You're free to insult me, but remove my late dad's name from your mouth.”
