‘Someone explain the rules to me’ - Chelsea manager furious with controversial goal awarded to Leeds United
The Blues were held to a 2-2 draw with Leeds United on Tuesday night in the Premier League, dropping two points in the top-four race.
They squandered a two-goal advantage at Stamford Bridge, dropping crucial points in their pursuit of a top-five finish.
The turning point came with Leeds' second goal, which was shrouded in controversy after the ball appeared to strike the arm of Jayden Bogle during the build-up.
Rosenior expresses displeasure with controversial goal
When questioned about the incident post-match, Rosenior initially stated he had not reviewed it.
However, upon being informed by a TNT Sports reporter that the contact was deemed a "non-deliberate handball," the Chelsea boss erupted. He insisted that under the official rules, the goal should have been disallowed.
"The rule is if there’s any handball in the lead-up, it’s disallowed, whether it’s deliberate or not," Rosenior fumed.
"Someone explain the rules to me. You just got me angrier. I think that’s unacceptable if they’ve come to that judgment."
The controversy compounded a frustrating evening for Chelsea, who had a golden opportunity to win the match in the final seconds, only for Cole Palmer to miss an open goal.
The draw halted Chelsea's four-game winning streak in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Leeds will be pleased with a valuable point that lifts them to 15th place as they battle to secure their top-flight status for another season.
