Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has described Cole Palmer as “unstoppable” after the forward’s sensational first-half hat-trick powered the Blues to a 3-1 victory over Wolves on Saturday.

Palmer delivered a ruthless display at Stamford Bridge, calmly converting two penalties before completing his treble with a thunderous strike into the roof of the net, all before the interval.

The 23-year-old treble against Wolves was his fourth Premier League hat trick for Chelsea in just three seasons, pushing him clear of club icons Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard, who each managed three across their entire Chelsea careers.

What Rosenior said

Speaking after the match, Rosenior praised Palmer’s influence, composure, and world-class quality.

“I don’t want him to change, that’s for sure. Some of our passages of play and our football were exactly what I wanted to see, and he was a huge part of that. We know what a world-class player he is. When he’s at his best, he’s unstoppable. I’m delighted to be working with him,” Rosenior said.

The hat-trick saw Palmer surpass the 50-goal mark for Chelsea since joining from Manchester City in 2023, a remarkable milestone despite an injury-disrupted campaign.

Palmer’s performance comes as a major boost for Rosenior, who has faced constant questions regarding the forward’s fitness, form, and mentality since taking charge in January. Chelsea have carefully managed Palmer’s minutes following a groin injury sustained in November, limiting his run of consecutive starts.

“When he’s fully firing and feeling good, he’s a magnificent footballer. At a club like this, with the scrutiny and pressure, you have to block out the noise and remember how good you are. I love working with him. He loves being here," Rosenior added.
