Sha'Carri Richardson picks ex-teammate and two legends in dream 4x100m relay squad, snubs notable 'close' partners

World 100m champion Sha'Carri Richardson made a surprising choice for her dream 4x100m relay team, which included an ex-teammate and two legends, while there was an obvious snub of her training partners.

In an interview before the Prefontaine Classic Diamond League in Eugene, the American sprint queen was asked what her dream relay squad would be, and she glowingly named her lineup.

"I'm gonna have Aleia Hobbs (American 60m record holder and former college mate at LSU) on there, myself, Wilma Rudolph (1960 Olympic 100m and 200m gold medallist), and Flo Jo (women's 100m and 200m world record holder)," she said.

Richardson's all-time selection, excluding either of her current training partners Melissa Jefferson-Wooden or Tee Tee Terry, is surprising, considering she has won all her relay gold medals having one or both as part of the team.

At the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, Richardson anchored the American relay squad comprising Tamara Davis, Tee Tee Terry, and Gabby Thomas to the 4x100m gold. Then, at Paris 2024 Olympics, using the same setup with Jefferson-Wooden coming in for Davis, the team achieved the same feat.

Rumors have emerged that the three star ladies in Dennis Mitchell's Star Athletics camp are not on good terms. If anything, Richardson's dream relay reveal further deepens these speculations about their relationship.
