Four goals were cancelled in the game before Mikel Oyazarbal's incredible opener. Marcus Rashford came off the bench to equalise for Barcelona, but Guedes' winner came moments after.

The defeat, their third of the season, meant that the Blaugrana will not restore their four-point lead at the top of the log and are now only one point ahead of second-placed Real Madrid, as Los Blancos cut the deficit with their victory against Levante.

Real Sociedad went into the lead in the 32nd minute when Mikel Oyarzabal peeled away from his marker to meet a well-placed cross and dispatch a side-footed volley beyond Joan García to make it 1–0. 

Barcelona had multiple chances before the break and three goals disallowed for offside and fouls in the buildup. Their pressure continued after the interval, and their persistence was rewarded in the 70th minute when Marcus Rashford, introduced from the bench, ghosted past a defender to head home from Lamine Yamal’s inviting cross.

Sociedad’s response was immediate. Barely a minute later, the Basque side retook the lead in 71st minute. Gonçalo Guedes buried the ball past Garcia, 

The closing stages disintegrated into chaos, as Carlos Soler was sent off in the 88th minute for a reckless challenge, reducing Sociedad to ten men, but Barcelona’s late pressure could not find a second equaliser.
