The English right-back has faced a challenging start to his career at the Bernabeu since joining on a free transfer from Liverpool six months ago.

His time in Spain has been hampered by injuries, limiting him to just 11 appearances across all competitions, in which he has provided a single assist and failed to score.

The 27-year-old is currently recovering from a muscle injury and is expected to be fit again in February.

Madrid debunks news

A recent report from Spanish outlet El Nacional claimed that Alexander-Arnold has "no future" under Arbeloa.

The publication alleged that the two had a "frank conversation" where the new boss advised the defender to leave "for his own good."

However, sources, as reported by the Daily Mail, have confirmed that these claims are unfounded. Alexander-Arnold's struggles at the club level have also impacted his international prospects.

He has made only one appearance for England under Thomas Tuchel and now faces a battle to secure a place in the Three Lions' squad for this summer's World Cup in North America.

Arbeloa's tenure as Real Madrid's manager has had a turbulent beginning since he replaced Alonso after the club's Super Cup loss to Barcelona on January 11.

After a shock defeat to second-division side Albacete in his first match, Arbeloa has guided the team to two consecutive victories, including a dominant 6-1 win over Monaco in the Champions League.

It is understood that Arbeloa has successfully eased tensions within the squad that were reportedly growing under his predecessor.
