Phoenix Suns: Udoka Azubuike joins Nigerian stars Josh Okogie and Chimezie Metu
Udoka Azubuike, a free-agent center from Nigeria, has agreed to a two-way deal with the Phoenix Suns.
His first three seasons were spent with the Utah Jazz who drafted the Kansas native player.
Last season, the 23-year-old played in 36 games, averaged 3.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in 10.0 minutes a game.
Although has never scored more than 13 points, he has participated in 68 NBA games overall.
The 6'10" Azubuike has a shooting percentage of 76.9% and has never attempted a 3-point shot as most of his points have been scored on layups, dunks, and putbacks.
Injuries have prevented the growth of Azubuike, a previous first-round pick selection at 27 overall in the 2020 NBA Draft.
Before the start of the previous season, Utah declined its fourth-year team option on him, which is how he ended himself on the free-agent market.
With the Suns, Azubuike will have to climb the depth chart behind starter Deandre Ayton, Drew Eubanks, and Bol Bol.
Azubuike will play for the Suns alongside his fellow countrymen, Josh Okogie and Chimezie Metu from Nigeria.
