The 2018 FIFA World Cup champion for France, Paul Pogba, tested positive for testosterone on August 20 following Juventus' match against Udinese, according to Italian media.

Pogba was included in the team but did not play a minute of the match as he was benched for 90 minutes.

The discovery of testosterone traces in his blood during a doping test, however, has provoked a wide range of reactions.

The Frenchman will be suspended for the next Juve game against Lazio on September 16 and will have three days to appeal the verdict.

4-year ban for Pogba?

The 30-year-old will be judged by the national anti-doping tribunal and face a punishment of two years.

If found guilty, it might extend to even four, depending on the intentionality of the offense.

Having started his career at Manchester United, Pogba peaked at Turin in his first spell, where he won four Serie A titles with Juventus and was also nominated for the Ballon d’Or.
