Official: End of the road - Maresca quits Chelsea after a fallout with the hierarchy
Maresca had a bad patch in December, having secured just one Premier League win, with the results seeing them 15 points behind Arsenal.
This led to his position being under review, making things even more tense between him and key club management, something that has been bubbling since last year.
The manager also missed his post-match press conference after a chaotic 2-2 draw with Bournemouth on Tuesday night, which was another sign of the problems behind the scenes, even though his absence was attributed to illness.
Maresca leaves Chelsea
Maresca has been in the news for the last 24 hours following the recent meeting with the Chelsea board regarding his position.
It was reported earlier by Sky Sports that the “Argentine will not be in charge for Sunday's game against Manchester City.”

Prior to his resignation, Maresca spent one and a half seasons at Stamford Bridge and managed 92 games, winning 55 matches.
He went on to win two significant trophies during his tenure (the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup in its new format).
Following his resignation, Chelsea will be looking for a replacement to take charge of the team for the remainder of the season.
The Blues are set to face Manchester City at the weekend and Maresca’s resignation did not come at the right time for the team, who are pushing for a Champions League spot.
