The Swedish striker has been training alone since last month after informing Newcastle United's management of his desire to join Liverpool.

With no sign of a change of heart, the club is preparing to take disciplinary action against the striker.

Alexander Isak faces fine

The Magpies have so far refrained from fining him for refusing to travel on their Far East tour and for missing preseason friendlies. They have continued to pay his £130,000 weekly wage.

However, according to The Sun, via GSP, they will impose financial penalties if Isak misses any official matches. The first fine could come as early as Saturday, should he refuse to play against Aston Villa in their 2025-2026 Premier League season opener.

Manager Eddie Howe has made it clear that he wants last season's top scorer, with 27 goals, back in his squad. But he admits that the future of the star player, who has been handed the number 14 shirt for this season, remains uncertain.

Howe stated earlier this week: "I think everything is in play. I've said many times he's under contract with us. He's our player. The club will make the decision on his future. I don't know what that will be. Of course, I have a preferred outcome. I want the best and strongest squad possible, but I also want players who actually want to play for this football club."

Liverpool have already offered €130 million for the Swedish international, but Newcastle value him at €170 million and are holding out for that amount if they are to let him go.

While a decision is pending, the Magpies are preparing to finalize the signings of midfielder Jacob Ramsey (Aston Villa) and Yoane Wissa (Brentford). Ramsey is expected to sign a five-year contract on Friday, following a medical.
