Harambee Stars forward Mohammed Bajaber has received an assurance about his future at Tanzanian giants Simba.

Bajaber’s future has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks following reports that the club was getting frustrated by his fitness issues.

This was after he suffered a fresh injury setback last month, just weeks after making his highly awaited debut after four months without playing due to another injury.

It was reported that Simba had decided to register January signing Inno Loemba in his place as he continued to recover from his injury, casting doubts about his future, and putting some Kenyan clubs on alert.

However, Simba coach Steve Barker has provided a positive update over the Kenyan star’s fitness, confirming that he is back in training and could be in contention for a place in the team soon.

“Mohammed is a good player, and good players will always be in our plans,” Barker said. “He is fine. He is training and has been in full training after being out for two to three weeks,” added the South African coach, who was appointed in January.

Bajaber has played just two matches since moving to Simba last August, being his debut against Mbeya City on December 4, when he scored with his first touch, having come on as a late substitute.

He got his second chance on January 18, when he was handed his first start, but lasted just 12 minutes before a muscle injury forced him off, and this did not go down well with Simba fans who are concerned about his fitness issues.

It is not certain when Bajaber will be ready to play and eyes will be on Simba in their next couple of games against Tanzania Prisons on Sunday and Pamba Jiji next Wednesday.

Bajaber will also be keen to get back in action soon ahead of the March international window when Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy will name his squad for the next round of friendly matches.
