Alcaraz is yet to lose a set at the Sunshine Double (since Indian Wells) and extends his winning streak to 18-1 in 2023, going 3-0 versus top 10 players.
Fritz played well in the first set, getting 15 winners and 13 unforced errors, but Alcaraz is just a class apart with 15 winners and seven unforced errors, saved to break points with two-and-a-half volley winners.
The teenager's performance was outrageous, having won the game in less than 1 hour 20 minutes, had 19 winners and one UE (=18), won 6 aces and 0 double faults, 76% first serves points won (28/37), 2/2 break points saved, and 3/5 break points won.
His victory over Fritz is his fifth Masters 1000 semifinal, fifteenth win versus a top 10 player, and tenth win versus a Top 10 in Masters 1000s.
He is also the first men's tennis player since 1990 to have won the Indian Wells without losing a set and reaching the Miami semis without dropping a set.
Alcaraz will face Jannik Sinner in the semifinal in a rematch of the Indian Wells, which he won. If he eventually wins the Miami title without losing a set, the Spaniard will become the first teenager in history to win the Sunshine Double.
