The World Cup winner made his long-awaited debut for Inter Miami, coming off the bench in the 62nd minute against Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup.

He then went on to produce a moment of magic late on, with the teams deadlocked at 1-1 to claim all three points for Inter Miami.

Messi scored his first goal for the club with a sensational freekick, beating the Cruz Azul goalkeeper with a Messi special to win the game for Inter Miami.

The 2-1 win over Cruz Azul was Inter Miami’s first win in six games as the Florida side began to enjoy the rewards of their smart summer business.

After joining Inter Miami from Paris Saint-Germain this season, Messi appears to be keeping his promise of bringing his best qualities to the club after a dream debut for the Argentine forward.

The former Barcelona star decided against joining the Blaugrana after leaving PSG and has been joined by former teammates Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, with the latter also making his debut for the club against Cruz Azul.
