Man United vs Wolves: Red Devils end 2025 with worrying result
Manchester United were held to a 1–1 draw by struggling Wolves, as they ended the calendar year with a disappointing result.
Joshua Zirkzee struck early, and Manchester United threatened a rout, similar to the first leg. However, Ladislav Krejci got Wolves back into the game just before half time, and the Red Devils failed to reclaim the lead for the remainder of the game.
Key match details
The game began with both sides probing, but neither able to land a telling blow until the breakthrough arrived just before the half-hour mark. In the 27th minute, Zirkzee’s left-footed shot gave Manchester United a 1–0 advantage.
Wolves, who had been resilient without causing many clear openings, grew into the match as the first half wore on. They were rewarded right on the stroke of half-time, in the 45th minute, when a sustained attack in the box ended with Ladislav Krejčí steering a header beyond Lammens after a loose touch in United’s defence.
The second half saw United push for a winner, with Benjamin Sesko hitting the post and creating other promising moments, but Wolves defended compactly and forced United into rushed final passes.
Late in the game, Patrick Dorgu thought he’d won it, only for the effort to be ruled out for offside after a VAR check, leaving both teams to settle for a point.
