Osimhen shares life lessons from journey out of hardship

The Galatasaray striker visited Beyond Limits Football Academy in Ikenne, the development arm of NPFL champions Remo Stars, and spoke openly about his rise from difficult beginnings to global stardom.

Osimhen, who first caught global attention at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup, made it clear that his journey was built on struggle, sacrifice and belief, noting “I know how it is to make it from the trenches, especially in football.”

He told the youngsters that their current struggles are part of a path many successful players have walked before, saying, “Many of you are just like me, and the others who made it out have gone through the same struggles you're passing through today.”

The 2023 CAF Player of the Year then broke down the three key principles that guided his career and life.

“At the end of the day, three things worked for me, and I believe that if you apply them, it'll work for you by the special grace of God.”

Faith, hard work and education form Osimhen’s blueprint for success

Osimhen stressed that faith sits at the centre of everything he has achieved, “The first is to believe in God; it's the most important.”

His second pillar was work ethic and mental strength, warning players that rejection is inevitable, “You also need to be ready for failure… You'll be rejected, I'm speaking from my experience.”

Education and good company completed his advice, alongside humility and discipline. “Make sure you're educated… and make sure to have the right people around you. There are places your talent can never take you to that grace will.”

After the session, Osimhen backed his words with action, gifting the academy players ₦10 million and wishing them success in their careers.
