Jacobs, who previously withdrew due to an injury from the Rabat and Florence Diamond League, where he was supposed to face Fred Kerley and Ferdinand Omanyala, was mocked with many believing he wasn't injured and called him a 'duckling' that pulls out of high profile races especially against Kerley.

He later made his first outdoor appearance of the season at the Paris Diamond League. There he finished a distant seventh, with Noah Lyles winning the race, Omanyala second, and Botswana youngster Letsile Tebogo third.
