'I had big offers' - Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen reveals temptation to dump Galatasaray
Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has admitted that his decision to remain loyal to the Turkish giants was an emotionally difficult yet rewarding one following substantial financial offers from rival clubs.
The Nigerian forward shared these sentiments after scoring his second goal of the season in Galatasaray's 3-1 win over Rizespor.
The 26-year-old endured a complex transfer saga this summer amidst interest from major clubs across Europe and lucrative proposals from Saudi Pro League teams, including Al-Hilal, who reportedly offered him an astonishing €40 million per year.
Osimhen’s permanent move to Galatasaray from Napoli involved a hefty €75 million transfer fee, making him the most expensive signing in Turkish football history.
Despite the financial temptation, Osimhen revealed in a post-match interview with the club's website that the deal's financial aspect was the most challenging part to navigate.
He said, “I’ve had big offers from some clubs there. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested; but I'm happy to be at Galatasaray.”
Osimhen emphasised further, as reported by Pulse Sports, that Galatasaray holds a special place in his heart, calling it his home where he feels fully supported and respected. He stated, “I already knew in my heart where I wanted to be. They valued me here… there is a really different understanding within the club.”
His connection with the club and fans proved stronger than the financial lure, reflecting his loyalty and commitment to the team’s success.

Osimhen’s choice shows a remarkable blend of professional ambition and personal attachment, as he continues to build on a stellar season, helping Galatasaray maintain a perfect start to their title defense in the Super Lig.
The Nigerian’s decision also signals his desire to compete at the highest level while cherishing the unique environment Galatasaray offers for his football and life ambitions.
