A series of sponsors have come in to support the inaugural leg of the 2026 HSBC SVNS tournament, scheduled to be hosted at the Nyayo National Stadium on February 14 and 15.

This event marks a significant milestone for the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU), as Kenya becomes only the second African nation to host a World Rugby Sevens international event.

Following the successful bid, there has been a massive wave of corporate confidence, with several high-profile sponsors injecting millions of shillings to ensure the event's success and the comfort of the thousands of fans expected to attend.

Leading the sponsorship charge are Tusker (Kenya Breweries Limited) and Sportpesa, both committing a staggering Ksh 40 million each.

For Tusker, a brand synonymous with Kenyan rugby heritage, the investment is geared toward logistical support and fan experiential zones to ensure the stadium atmosphere matches the global standard.

Sportpesa’s matching contribution further reinforces the betting giant’s commitment to reviving the sport's glory days and supporting the national teams, Shujaa and the Lionesses, on home soil.

Safaricom has plugged in Ksh 10 million. Beyond the financial boost, Safaricom serves as a vital partner in ensuring seamless connectivity at the venue, supporting a world-class media center to help local and international journalists broadcast the action to millions of viewers globally.

Emergency Plus Medical Services (E-Plus) has committed Ksh 1.5 million to provide critical medical cover and ambulance services, ensuring that the high-octane weekend is handled with the highest level of professional care.

The tournament has also attracted support from the Kenya Power Foundation, which contributed Ksh 3 million, and Crown Paints, which added Ksh 2 million.

These partnerships highlight a growing trend of diverse corporate sectors recognising rugby as a powerful tool for brand visibility and community engagement.

As the countdown to kick-off nears its end, the Kenya Rugby Union has expressed immense gratitude to these partners.

This collective investment, totaling over Ksh 96.5 million, not only secures the 2026 tournament but also signals a "Rugby Renaissance" in Kenya.
