According to reports from Messi's native Argentina, via The Sun, the accident occurred in Miami. Maria Sol was set to marry Julian "Tuli" Arellano, a coach on Inter Miami's U19 staff, in Rosario, Argentina, on January 3.

The ceremony has now been postponed indefinitely as she begins her recovery.

Argentinian TV journalist Angel de Brito shared details on the program LAM, citing communication with the Messi family matriarch, Celia Cuccittini. "Messi's sister is okay, she's out of danger," de Brito stated.

"She suffered burns and burns are very difficult to treat, as well as displacement of vertebrae. She's already started her rehabilitation in Rosario."

De Brito added, "I asked her mum Celia... and she told me it's true but that Maria Sol is okay. She has two fractured vertebrae, a fractured heel and wrist. The wedding is going to be put back. Celia told me she fainted and hit a wall."

Maria Sol, a clothing designer and entrepreneur, has largely remained out of the public eye despite her brother's global fame.

Like Lionel and his wife Antonela Roccuzzo, she met her fiancé Julian when they were young, growing up in the same neighborhood. The entire Messi family, including the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner, his wife, and their three sons, were expected to attend the wedding.
