Harambee Stars Midfielder Attracts Interest from Tunisian Giants After CHAN 2025 Heroics
Tunisian club Etoile Sportive du Sahel secured the signing of Harambee Stars defender Alphonce Omija but they are still keen on adding another Kenyan player.
Omija is among Kenyan players who secured moves abroad after a starring role at the 2024 African Nations Championships (CHAN 2024), joining the 11-time Tunisian champions.
As the defender settles in, he could be joined by another of his former team-mates as Etoile du Sahel are eyeing midfielder Alpha Onyango.

Onyango was a standout performer for Benni McCarthy’s team in CHAN 2024 as well as this month’s World Cup qualifiers and is reported to be on the radar of the 2007 CAF Champions League winners.
According to reports, the club wants to add the central midfielder to their squad ahead of the closure of the transfer window on Saturday September 20 although his current club Gor Mahia appear not keen to let him go.
Gor Mahia Not Keen to Lose Alpha Onyango
Gor Mahia see Onyango as a key player who will be crucial in their bid to reclaim the FKF Premier League title that they lost to Kenya Police last season.
That has seen a reluctance on the part of K’Ogalo to part ways with the midfielder although the player is believed to be keen on the move that would reunite him with ex-Gor Mahia team-mate Omija at Etoile du Sahel.
It remains to be seen how the situation will unfold but it looks like the Tunisian outfit might have to fork out a large sum to convince Gor Mahia to part with one of their key assets.
Onyango was a crucial player for Kenya as they reached the quarter-final of CHAN 2024, when they conceded just two goals in five games, as he did not just help shield the backline but also acted as the link between defence and attack with his runs and passes further forward.
He started on the bench as Kenya faced The Gambia in their 3-1 loss it the World Cup qualifier but lifted Harambee Stars following his second half introduction which earned him a start in the 5-0 thrashing of Seychelles.
