Australian sprinting sensation Gout Gout, who has drawn comparisons to the legendary Usain Bolt, has made a significant life purchase after signing a lucrative contract with Adidas.

The 18-year-old athletics prodigy has invested in a new home for his family in west Brisbane, fulfilling what he described as ‘one of my dreams.’

The purchase follows a reported £4 million ($6 million) deal with the sportswear giant, which he signed at just 16, beating out competitors like Puma and Nike.

Gout's rise has been nothing short of meteoric. He shattered Peter Norman's 56-year-old Australian 200m record, lowering the mark to an astonishing 20.02 seconds before even turning 18.

Speaking to Nova FM about the property purchase, the young star expressed his gratitude. "It's definitely a privilege being able to provide back to my family what they've given to me," he said.

"As you get older, one of your dreams is buying your parents a house or buying your parents a car or things of that nature, and I've done one of those things. I'm definitely proud of myself for sure, and sometimes it's a pinch yourself moment... knowing that I'm literally just 17, turning 18, and I've already done these great things."

With his family settled, Gout Gout's focus remains firmly on the track. After making his debut at the World Athletics Championships, where he narrowly missed a spot in the final, he is now training for the 2026 Commonwealth Games and the World Junior Championships.

Looking further ahead, the sprinter has his sights set on future Olympic Games, including Los Angeles in 2028 and a potential home Games in Brisbane in 2032.

Gout Gout Being Compared to Usain Bolt

The comparisons to Usain Bolt are not without merit, according to former Australian Olympian Jane Flemming. "There's a 16-year-old sprinter up in Queensland called Gout Gout, who if I've ever seen anybody run like Usain Bolt and [be] built like him, he is it," she commented previously.

"He is built like Usain Bolt and he runs like him. He is [also] running not dissimilar times to what Bolt did at the same age."

The eight-time Olympic gold medallist himself has endorsed the young Australian, offering words of encouragement and caution.

"Definitely, I think the talent that he's showing when I was young is the same thing," Bolt stated. "And this is why I'm trying to advise him to be very careful in transition because I had a tough time transitioning into the senior level."

Bolt added, "So finding the right people, finding the right coach that could transition into the senior level (is key). He has a great future. If he gets everything right, his future is going to be bright."
