Galatasaray vs Atletico Madrid: Osimhen struggles in first game after AFCON, as Cim-Bom collect crucial point

Victor Osimhen's return failed to inspire Galatasaray to victory; however, they managed to collect crucial three points against Atletico Madrid to keep their UCL dreams alive.

Guliano Simeone opened the scoring early as Rojiblancos threatened a rout, but Galatasaray equalised through a Marcos Llorente own goal in the 1-1 draw.

The game burst into life almost immediately after kickoff. In the 4th minute, Atlético Madrid drew first blood when Giuliano Simeone rose to meet a cross and powered a header past Galatasaray goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır, giving the visitors an early lead.

Galatasaray responded by settling into the match, probing Atlético’s defence. Their persistence paid off in the 20th minute when a dangerous delivery into the box forced Marcos Llorente into an unfortunate deflection that sent the ball past his own goalkeeper, levelling the score at 1–1. 

Neither side could find a winner from that point. Atlético Madrid tested Galatasaray through set pieces and intricate attacking players, while the home side looked dangerous on the break, with Victor Osimhen and Leroy Sané combining to create glimpses of threat. 

Both goalkeepers, Uğurcan Çakır for Galatasaray and Jan Oblak for Atlético, produced important saves at crucial moments as the match stayed deadlocked. .
