‘Form a combined team if you dream of beating us’ Moses Adagala tells Mara Suga and Migori Youth
Opinion dividing Wazito fc supremo Moses Adagala has chided play-off chasing National Super League duet of Migori Youth and Mara Sugar ahead of the highly anticipated top-flight clinching playoff with either of the NSL outfits.
Migori Youth and Mara Sugar are embroiled in a thrilling two-horse race to finish third in Kenya’s 2nd tier football division for a chance to slug it out with 3rd from bottom Football Kenya Federation Premier Leaguer (FKFPL) finisher.
The winner of that play-off attains top-flight status for the coming season and Adagala, already anticipating his prized Wazito to finish third from bottom, has already launched into mind games.
“Those NSL teams cannot match Wazito’s might. Perhaps they could if they combined both Mara Sugar and Migori Youth. Otherwise, they are wasting time,” Adagala intimated
The self-declared Duke of Got Alila took possession of Wazito earlier this season after previous owner Ricardo ‘Don Rico’ Badoer ran away following regulatory headwinds from investigative agencies in the country.
With two top-flight fixtures remaining, Adagala’s Wazito are four points ahead of 2008 champions Mathare United in the race to avoid automatic relegation. Wazito, on 26 points cannot catch Nairobi City Stars who have attained safety at 34 points.
However, Wazito can still fall behind should they lose their two remaining fixtures while Mathare United win their last two. The slum boys are only four points shy of Wazito and really pray that the Kisumu County based club fail to win Wednesday’s fixture away to Bidco United.
“We are not worried at all. Anyone of those two clubs who will face Wazito will feel our weight. The team is well motivated and all indications are that we will win the play-off and grace the FKF Premier League again next season,” Adagala added
It could be all over for Mathare United if they lose to under pressure Ulinzi Stars as they will be left with too big a gap to fill even with maximum points from their season ending fixture.
On the second tier, Mara Sugar and Migori Youth are also involved in an entertaining battle for third spot with all manner of dirt levelled against each other.
