Since Julien Alfred's historic Olympic victory in Paris, her home country of Saint Lucia has become a tourist site, and it's no different for Melissa Jefferson-Wooden and her husband Rolan, who chose the beautiful Island as their honeymoon destination for their first wedding anniversary.

The lovely couple who got legally married on October 28, 2024, but did their "dream come true" wedding on March 2 this year in Florida, was attended by 250 guests, including teammates Twanisha “Tee Tee” Terry as a bridesmaid and Sha'Carri Richardson, as well as training partners Kenny Bednarek and Christian Coleman.

They met four years ago as student-athletes at Coastal Carolina University, with Melissa running track. At the same time, Rolan played on the football team. They got engaged in October 2023, after surprising her with a romantic proposal on the beach.

To celebrate their first wedding anniversary, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden and Rolan traveled to the beautiful island of Saint Lucia, sharing charming pictures and videos of their stay on their Instagram pages.

Jefferson-Wooden wrote a simple but romantic caption:

"1 Year Down, Forever to Go 😌💙🥂✨

Happy Anniversary Mr. Wooden."

She also shared another post appreciating Saint Lucia with different hashtags to elaborate the occasion.

Meanwhile, Rolan penned a longer message and attached their wedding photo with the caption:

"I’ve been waiting to post this all year. To my best friend, lover, and the woman I can call mine forever, words can’t express how overly in love I am with you...," he wrote.

The American sprint queen rose to the pinnacle of women's sprinting this year by dominating the 100m and 200m events, culminating at the World Championships in Tokyo, where she blazed to the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m gold medals.

Jefferson-Wooden went undefeated in the 100m throughout the year, and clocked new personal bests of 10.61s and 21.68s to enter the top 10 of the fastest women in history.
