The Kenyan sprint sensation competed in numerous events, but his season was largely defined by a disappointing exit at the World Athletics Championships, where he failed to advance from the semifinals after finishing fifth.

Looking back on the setback, Ferdinand Omanyala emphasised that the experience provided crucial learning opportunities.

"Every season has its challenges, and every race has its own lessons," Ferdinand Omanyala stated as quoted by Citizen Digital.

"For me, I learned something from every race, and I am looking forward to continuing to improve and to win races that will inspire upcoming athletes."

In the wake of his underwhelming performance, Ferdinand Omanyala made a significant change to his team, parting ways with coach Geoffrey Kimani and reuniting with his former mentor, Duncan Ayiemba.

While many of his peers took a break at the end of the season, the Commonwealth Games champion opted to maintain a rigorous training schedule, dedicating up to six hours a day to his craft. Ferdinand Omanyala believes that this early preparation is fundamental to his long-term goals.

With the 2026 season on the horizon, Ferdinand Omanyala has already set clear objectives, placing the defence of his Commonwealth title at the top of his priority list.

"We have already sat down with my management and looked at the calendar," Ferdinand Omanyala confirmed. "We will carefully select the competitions to participate in, but one of my main targets is the Commonwealth Games, where I intend to defend my title."

Beyond his personal ambitions, Ferdinand Omanyala remains committed to mentoring young sprinters and has urged the government and private sector to invest in better athletics infrastructure.

"We need proper training facilities for sprinters in different parts of the country," he stressed. "When tracks like Nyayo and Kasarani were under renovation, many sprinters suffered. This is something that needs to be addressed more effectively."

As Kenya's most decorated sprinter, Ferdinand Omanyala burst onto the international scene by shattering the African 100m record in 2021.

Known for his explosive starts, he has become a fixture on the global circuit, consistently challenging the world's elite.

As he gears up for 2026, his focus is firmly on reclaiming his top form and inspiring the next generation of African talent.
