Vinicius Junior’s future at Real Madrid is once again the subject of speculation as contract talks with the club remain at a standstill.

The Brazilian winger, whose current deal runs until 2027, is reportedly waiting for the club to restart negotiations, but recent developments suggest that may not happen anytime soon.

Tensions rise as contract talks stall

Real Madrid and Vinicius have reached a point of silence after failing to agree on new contract terms. The sticking point appears to be the player's demand to earn a salary on par with Kylian Mbappe, a figure the club is not willing to match.

Despite earlier reports in March that both sides had agreed in principle, things have changed dramatically. Vinicius, who met with Saudi officials in February over a massive €1 billion offer, still prefers to remain in Madrid.

According to reports, the player is not considering a move and wants to stay long-term. However, club president Florentino Perez is reportedly open to the idea of selling him if it allows him to land Erling Haaland.

Until talks resume, the tension is likely to linger, with both sides standing firm in their positions.

Alkorta warns against challenging Perez

Former Real Madrid defender Rafael Alkorta, who won two LaLiga titles with Real Madrid and played against Nigeria at the 1998 World Cup, has urged Vinicius to tread carefully.

Speaking to Diario Sport, Alkorta recalled the case of Sergio Ramos, who fell out with Perez after pushing too hard in contract negotiations. “Trying to pressure Florentino Perez can backfire,” he warned.

Alkorta also criticised Vinicius’ form this past season, noting that the winger has struggled since moving away from the left flank.

He believes the player’s advisors should offer better guidance, especially when his performances have not matched his demands. “Now is not the time to make demands,” he added.
