For the first hour, Spain struggled to create clear-cut chances, aside from Irene Paredes' shot that hit the post in the 43rd minute.
The deadlock finally broke in the 66th minute when Aitana Bonmati's pass found Athenea del Castillo, who beat Livia Peng.
Just five minutes later, Claudia Pina doubled the lead, all but securing Spain's place in the semi-finals.
Spain had a chance to extend their lead with another penalty late in the game, but Alexia Putellas missed the mark.
Switzerland finished the match a player down after Ana-Maria Crnogorčević received a straight red card in stoppage time for a reckless challenge on Selma Paralluelo.
Spain will face either France or Germany, who play on Saturday, July 19th.
The other semi-final will see Italy take on England, while the final is scheduled for July 27th.
