His remarkable time was his fastest since the 2022 Zurich Diamond League, indicating he may be back to his best. The 29-year-old remains one of the fastest men in history with a massive 100m personal best of 9.76s (joint sixth-fastest all time) and 60m best of 6.42s (joint sixth-fastest all time).

Consequently, despite a turbulent season on and off the track, Kerley has shown in his recent races that he is peaking at the right time and is capable of securing the win in Rome.

He has a Season's Best (SB) time of 9.98s clocked in early May, and with his strings of impressive performances in the 200m, the sixth world's fastest man in history at 9.76s, will gun for a confidence-boosting win against his fierce rivals.

Finally, Africa's fastest man in history Omanyala, will aim for his first Diamond League win of the season after two second-place finishes in Xiamen and Rabat.

Though he hasn't run under the sub-10s mark this year, the Kenyan star isn't a pushover and is capable of snatching the win at his best.

With the spotlight on the mentioned trio, the rest of the field also has respectable names in Courtney Lindsey, Emmanuel Eséme, Brandon Hicklin, Hakim Sani Brown, Chituru Ali, and Filippo Tortu, who are all capable of causing a major upset.

Rome is the fifth city of the Diamond League series and it looks promising to be a spectacle featuring some of the world's best stars.
