Celta Vigo Reacts to Aldrine Kibet’s Maiden Harambee Stars Call-Up
Spanish club Celta Vigo has commented on youngster Aldrine Kibet's call-up to the Harambee Stars squad.
Kibet is the latest inclusion into the senior national team squad after coach Benni McCarthy handed him his maiden call-up.
The teen sensation has enjoyed a meteoric rise in the last two years since starring for St Anthony's Boys Kitale at the national secondary school games in August 2023.

That great run, which ended with him as the top scorer and Most Valuable Player, would see him join Nastic Sports Academy in Spain, alongside two others Amos Wanjala and Alvine Kasavuli.
He would play for Kenya's U18 at the 2023 CECAFA U18, when they reached the final, and then joined Rising Stars at the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations where they exited at the group stage.
Celta Vigo Thrilled with Kibet’s Senior Team Call-Up
Kibet kept his feet on the ground and maintained a high level of performances and in July this year, he was signed by Celta Vigo.
The 19-year-old plays in Celta Vigo's second-string team but with McCarthy looking to start early preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, he has opted to start having a closer look at him, beginning with the November friendly matches against Madagascar and Comoros.
"Aldrine Kibet's first call to the senior Kenyan national team. What a moment for our man. Congrats, Aldrine," Celta Vigo posted on social media.
It remains to be seen the amount of game time Kibet will be handed by McCarthy next month and how well he performs at the international stage as he continues his development.
Kibet is among three Rising Stars players who made it to the latest Harambee Stars squad the others being striker Lawrence Okoth and defender Baron Ochieng although the other two have previously been part of the senior team setup.
