AC Milan make move to hijack deal from Crystal Palace for Man City defender Akanji
The Swiss defender has been on the radar of many clubs in Europe, with his contract with City running until the summer of 2027.
He did not feature in the first two matches of the new season, after making 40 appearances across all competitions last campaign.
AC Milan wants Akanji
AC Milan have enquired about the availability of Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji, according to Fabrizio Romano, via Sportal.
The Rossoneri have yet to submit a formal offer for the 30-year-old Swiss international, but he is reportedly one of three options Milan are considering for a new centre-back.
Galatasaray has already reached an agreement with the Citizens for a £15 million transfer for Akanji, but the player is currently unwilling to move to the Turkish giants.
Crystal Palace have also submitted a matching offer, viewing Akanji as a potential replacement for Ibrahima Gueye.
The Palace defender is set to make a switch to Liverpool this summer as both clubs continue negotiations on the Switzerland international.
