Agnes Nyberg of Utah was assessed a foul inside the box in the 58th minute, which resulted in the first penalty kick of the match for the Courage.
In the 58th minute, Malia Berkely's penalty kick was stopped by Royals goalkeeper Mandy Haught, who dove to her right.

For the remainder of the second half, the Royals held off advances from the Courage to secure their first victory of the year.
On Sunday, March 31, Utah will play the Washington Spirit away from home.
