The acting chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Bala Sani Shehu, has disclosed that his athletes at the ongoing National Youth games (NYG) in Asaba are desperate to win medals.

According to the chairman, this is the first time in history that all Kano athletes have passed the test.

The delegation's chairman, Alhaji Bala Sani, promised Kano athletes that they are in a good position and will continue to play by the rules at the Games.

The Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, has revealed that the National Youth Games will help the people of Nigeria foster peace and unity with one another.

Enoh made these revelations during the opening ceremony of the Seventh edition of the National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State while breaking kolanuts, a traditional sign of peace, friendship, and positive beliefs.

The theme for Games is peace and greater unity amongst athletes and states participating.

He congratulated the Delta State government for agreeing to host the Games, emphasizing the numerous benefits for both the state and the nation as a whole.
