Even before the season began, it was clear that defending his MotoGP world title would be a monumental task for Jorge Martin, primarily due to the injuries that forced him to miss the first three rounds.
Martin returned for the Qatar Grand Prix, but his race at Lusail ended in Doha's hospital intensive care unit after another crash, this time involving Fabio Di Giannantonio. This resulted in another extended absence, further diminishing Martin's championship hopes.
Going into the Czech Grand Prix, the Spaniard was mathematically still in contention, however unlikely. Now, however, he is officially out of the running, trailing leader Marc Marquez by 372 points with only ten rounds remaining, and a maximum of 370 points available.
Upon his MotoGP return, Martin secured a commendable seventh-place finish, a strong result considering his long absence, lack of full fitness, and limited experience with the Aprilia. This earned him his first points of the season, and he'll be hoping to build on this performance after the summer break.
