Jonathan Owens: Simone Biles' husband dragged for saying his wife initiated their relationship

Jonathan Owens, the husband of gymnastics star Simone Biles, has caught flak on the internet for narrating how he and the 26-year-old started their relationship.

Biles is widely regarded as the greatest gymnast of all time, with four Olympic gold medals to her name. She is the most decorated athlete in the sport's history, with 29 gold medals; however, her spouse claims to be ignorant of her at their time of meeting, which has rubbed many wrongly.

Although a far lesser-known quantity, Owens is a sports star in his own right. The 28-year-old is an American football player, currently employed as a stand-strong safety for the Green Bay Packers.

Owens tied the knot with Biles in April of this year after dating for over two years. On a podcast recently, speaking about the start of their journey, the defender made some interesting revelations.

Owens and his wife were on the Pivot podcast when he explained that he was unfamiliar with Biles and her astonishing exploits in the world of gymnastics. He also spilt that the superstar body contorter did the chasing at the start of the relationship and that he held his cards close to his chest in the offset due to his fear of committing.

Biles matched the NFL star on a high-end exclusive dating app, Raya, and she did the propositioning at the start of the relationship, even driving down 45 minutes for a date, Owens narrated.

The clip of the pair on the Pivot podcast has gone viral on the internet, and many users of the X platform have brought out the pitchforks to castigate Simone’s husband for perceived denigration.

The aggrieved tweeters believe Owens was being 'sassy' and failed to protect the image of his superiorly famous wife by painting a picture in which she was the pursuer.

“Watching Simone Biles’s husband sabotage her in public just a few months out from the 2024 Summer Olympics is a horrible thing to see and I want all the folks to know that even if you’re not “like” Simone Biles, no one deserves to be treated like that,” one user tweeted.

Another said, “Simone Biles, who will arguably go down in history as the greatest gymnast of all time... and who is so good at her sport they keep creating new just rules to catch up to her... is now married to a ‘Bad B**ch’ who makes it a point to say she courted him. And I hate that for her.” 

A third said, “This is so f***ing cringe. He really acting like THEEEEE OLYMPIC AWARD WINNING SIMONE BILES was just a thirsty, nobody-a*s b**ch that chased him down. and she sitting there, grinning.

As stated earlier, Biles was seated during the podcast as well, but in sharp contrast to the vitriolic response online, she was grinning ear-to-ear, seemingly enjoying her husband’s storytelling.
