Yanga secured a huge advantage in their bid to win their maiden continental title when they beat Marumo Gallants of South Africa 2-0 in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup semi-final.
Ivory Coast forward Stephane Aziz Ki scored the first goal in the 64th minute before substitute Bernard Morrison made it 2-0 at the death to give Yanga the crucial win.

Marumo Gallants have arrived in Dar es Salaam for the CAF Confederation Cup semi-final clash against Yanga
Gallants, where Kenyan midfielder Sven Yidah plays, found the going tough against the Tanzanian champions who were backed by a partisan crowd at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Thursday.
While Yanga went all out attack, Gallants employed a cautious approach which served them well in the opening exchanges where chances were few and far between.
The home side threatened the Gallants goal on a number of occasions but could not find a way past the Premier Soccer League strugglers until Ki poked home the in the second half.
With Gallants hoping to hold on for a slim loss, substitute Morrison extended Yanga’s advantage with a stoppage-time goal for the huge victory.

The Tanzanian champions are yet to express interest to appeal against the ruling.
Victory puts Yanga in a good place to extend their historic run in the competition as they will need a draw or a 1-0 loss in South Africa to make it to the final. However, they will need to be wary of Gallants after they eliminated the highly-fancied Egyptian side Pyramids in the quarter-final.
The second leg will take place in South Africa on Wednesday, May 17 with the winner taking on either ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast or USM Alger of Algeria in the final.
