After being drawn against Bayern Munich in the Group Stage of the 2023/24 UCL, Manchester United fans believe their team can come out on top of the Bavarians to reach the round of 16

Manchester United fans have reacted to the recent UEFA Champions League draw pitting them against Bayern Munich, with many believing that they will finish above the German champions to top the group.

Manchester United set for Bayern Munich European test

The Red Devils were drawn against the Bavarian giants in Group A, alongside Copenhagen and Galatasaray, as they look to win the coveted European prize for the first time since 2008 under Sir Alex Ferguson.

With the last two teams being relative minnows, the focus in Group A has been on the two big guns, Bayern Munich and Manchester United, with many already drawing up permutations about how the group will end, and which of the two will go the furthest.

The teams have met in the UCL on 13 occasions, with Bayern Munich winning four times and Manchester United winning twice, but the Red Devils will always have special memories of beating the Bavarians in the 1999 final.

Manchester United to top Group A according to fans

These fund memories could be the fuel behind Manchester United fans, who answered a UEFA Champions League poll on X, asking who would top the exciting Group A by claiming that the Red Devils will come out on top.

Neutral fans have unsurprisingly backed Bayern Munich to finish top of the group after winning the Bundesliga and reaching the quarterfinals of last season’s UCL before crashing out against Manchester City.

However, Manchester United fans appeared adamant or sarcastic about their team’s chances of finishing top of Group A, which would likely require them to beat Bayern Munich for the first time in 13 years.

The Group stage fixtures kick off on the 19th of September, 2023, with both sides in action.
