The Red Devils are interested in Amrabat but are not willing to pay the €30m demanded by the Serie A side hence the standoff

Serie A side Fiorentina have rejected Manchester United’s offer to sign Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat on loan.

The Red Devils are seeking to strengthen their midfield and have targeted the Moroccan this summer but appear not in a position to pay for his services due to Financial Fair Play rules, hence their decision to submit a loan offer.

However, the Viola have outrightly rejected the proposal as they would only sanction a sale if a cash bid is tabled by any of the midfielder’s suitors, including United.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Dimarzio, Turkish giants Galatasaray have also made a loan offer for Amrabat which has been rejected by the Serie A club.

United are on the lookout for more bodies in midfield following the departure of Fred to Fenerbahçe and the imminent exit of Dutchman Donny van de Beek but are short of cash after outlays on goalkeeper Andre Onana, midfielder Mason Mount and striker Rasmus Hojlund.

Amrabat has been waiting for United to reach a deal with Fiorentina over his move to Old Trafford but the deal has taken longer than all parties involved had hoped for.

Fiorentina have left the player out of the squad from their recent matches, including their 2-2 draw with Lecce in their Serie A opener last weekend, and he has also been omitted from the team that will face Austria’s Rapid Vienna in the Europa League playoff on Thursday.

The Italian side are reported to be demanding €30 million to release Amrabat who joined them from Hellas Verona in 2020 and has made 98 appearances in all competitions.
